Where to Find Your AirPods Model Number
Every AirPod earbud and charging case has its own model number starting with "A". You can find it in three places:
- On the earbud itself — printed in tiny gray text on the underside of the stem (you may need bright light or a magnifier).
- Inside the charging case lid — the case's own model number is printed under the lid.
- In your iPhone settings — Settings → Bluetooth → tap the ⓘ next to your AirPods. This shows the model number without squinting at the hardware.

A2564 & A2565 — AirPods 3rd Generation
If your earbud says A2564, it's the left AirPod from the AirPods 3rd Generation. A2565 is the right one. These are the AirPods with the short stems and contoured shape, released in late 2021—no silicone ear tips, unlike the Pro line.

A2031 & A2032 — AirPods 2nd Generation
A2031 is the left AirPod from the AirPods 2nd Generation; A2032 is the right. These are the classic long-stem AirPods from 2019, and they remain one of the most-replaced models—millions of pairs are still in daily use.

A3047, A3048, A2698 & A2699 — AirPods Pro 2nd Generation
This is where most people get tripped up, because AirPods Pro 2 shipped in two versions with different part numbers:
- USB‑C version (2023): left is A3048, right is A3047, case is A2968 → shop USB‑C parts
- Lightning version (2022): left is A2699, right is A2698, case is A2700 → shop Lightning parts
The earbuds and cases look the same from the outside. The fastest tell is the charging port on the case—but if you're replacing an earbud, go by the A-number on the bud itself, not the case.
A3050, A3053, A3055 & A3056 — AirPods 4
AirPods 4 also comes in two versions with separate part numbers:
- AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation: left is A3056, right is A3055, case is A3059
- AirPods 4 (standard): left is A3053, right is A3050, case is A3058
