1Pinpoint Exactly What Won't Charge

"Not charging" has three different causes depending on what's not charging. Identify yours first so you don't waste time:

• Neither earbud charges in the case → dirty case contacts or a dead case battery (Fixes 2, hardware).

2Clean the Case's Charging Contacts

The metal contacts at the bottom of each case slot transfer power to the earbuds. Earwax, lint, and grime build up there and block the charge — the most common charging fault by far.

1. Remove both AirPods
2. Look into each slot — the contacts should be clean, shiny gold
3. Gently wipe them with a dry cotton swab or a lint-free cloth
4. For packed-in lint, use a dry, soft-bristled brush

3Clean the Gold Pins on the Earbuds

Each AirPod has two small gold charging pins on its stem base. If those are grimy, the earbud won't take a charge even in a clean case.
